A Night Underwater was formed in late 2009, by David Whayman and Colin Miller. It began with a series of songs written by Whayman, with a desire to produce melody-driven, acoustic music with poetic yet melancholic lyrics. It was only with arrival of Miller's driving rhythms and their shared eclectic sensibilities, that 'Departures' began to take shape, an album greater than the sum of its parts.
